The Certificate in Extensive English Learning Programme (EELP)
is a 1-year course that takes students from Pre-Intermediate to Advanced Level, each module lasting 3 months. It focuses on improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, while building vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Through practical topics and real-world communication, students gain the confidence and fluency needed for academic, professional, and everyday use of English.​

​For anyone who wishes to learn to write and speak in English and to feel comfortable in an English-speaking environment; Completing the course will enhance students’ employability by providing them with the English language skills needed in today’s global job market.​

Course Synopsis
Entry Requirement
The Extensive English Learning Programme (EELP) is a 1-year course that takes students from Pre-Intermediate to Advanced Level, each module lasting 3 months. It focuses on improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, while building vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Through practical topics and real-world communication, students gain the confidence and fluency needed for academic, professional, and everyday use of English.​

​Minimum 16 years of age

Language:
No formal English qualification is required. Applicants may qualify for admission by taking a placement test.

Academic:
i. At least completed ‘N’ Level or its equivalent; or
ii. At least completed International Year 10 or its equivalent.
Award Criteria

To successfully complete the Certificate in Extensive English Language Programme (EELP), students are required to:
- Achieve 75% attendance rate or higher and score at least 65% or above for Overall Assessments (for Non-Student’s Pass Holders)
- Achieve 90% attendance rate or higher and score at least 65% or above for Overall Assessments (for Student’s Pass Holders)
Assessments and Objectives

Note: Although the course spans 48 weeks, assessments are scheduled in weeks 5, 7, 8, and 9 for all modules. For consistency, students will be informed that the week numbers (1–12) align with the module they are studying, ensuring a standardized progression and assessment structure across all levels.
Pre-Intermediate Level
By the end of this module, students should:

Communicate about past, present, and future events.

Use common grammar structures such as the present perfect and comparatives.

Understand longer spoken texts and everyday conversations.
-
Read and understand simple articles and short narratives.
-
Write short texts, including emails, notes, and short paragraphs.

Improve pronunciation and develop conversational fluency.

Engage in social interactions and common real-life situations.
Intermediate Level
By the end of this module, students should:

Express opinions and participate actively in discussions.

Use a broader range of tenses and sentence structures accurately.

Understand the main points of authentic listening materials.

Read and interpret a variety of text types.

Write essays, stories, and both formal and informal correspondence.

Expand topic-specific vocabulary and use idiomatic expressions.

Speak more fluently and confidently in extended conversations
Upper Intermediate Level
By the end of this module, students should:

Understand and analyse complex written and spoken texts.

Use advanced grammatical structures with control and flexibility.
-
Express ideas clearly in both formal and informal contexts.

Write detailed, well-structured texts such as reports and reviews.

Interpret tone, style, and implied meaning across different contexts.

Communicate clearly, accurately, and appropriately.

Use a wide range of idiomatic and academic vocabulary.
Advanced Level
By the end of this module, students should:

Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognize implicit meaning.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social and academic purposes.

Produce clear and well-organized written and spoken communication.

Demonstrate a good level of grammatical accuracy.
-
Engage confidently in debates and presentations.

Read and analyse authentic materials.
-
Employ nuanced vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and discourse markers naturally and appropriately.
