CEC Edutrip - Term 2 2025 Singapore City Gallery

Updated: 3 days ago

Students and teachers met bright and early at 10am outside Singapore’s illustrious City Gallery, for an interactive and interesting look at Singapore’s past and future city plans. This trip gave students a great opportunity to interact with each other outside of the class room, while simultaneously exposing them to new information about the country which they call home.

The first floor offered an interesting glimpse at the future of Singapore’s urban design. Students were encouraged to find information about where they live in the country, and to see if there are any developmental goals planned for their neighbourhood. Some students found out their areas will have more green spaces, while others will be given more shopping opportunities to save them a trip to the city centre.

The second floor allowed students to take a trip down memory lane, witnessing the historic growth of Singapore throughout its 60 years of independence. They were amazed to see how far Singapore had come from its humble beginnings, and plenty of discussions were had comparing Singapore’s growth with the growth of the student’s own home countries. This floor also allowed the students to see how Singapore’s infrastructure works; its water, power and recycling systems all intertwined.

Overall, this trip was a great success, giving students the opportunity to engage with English in a real life scenario and learn together.
